Microsoft Copilot for the web is the ACU preferred tool. All students have access to Copilot via Outlook or by signing in to Office or Microsoft 365 Copilot with your ACU account.
The University encourages you to learn and experiment with other tools that are emerging every day, provided that you do not enter protected, personal or otherwise sensitive information. Always use discretion and carefully consider privacy and security risks before using them.
AI tool aggregators simplify the process of finding new AI tools by organising them into centralised directories.
There's an AI for that is an AI Aggregator. It is the largest database of over 12,000 AIs available for over 14,000 tasks. Search it to find the best AI tool for your particular case. It updates daily.
Futurepedia is another AI aggregator that may assist you in finding the best AI tool for your particular need.
In February 2025, the Australian Government directed Commonwealth entities to stop using Deepseek AI due to data security concerns.
While this doesn't apply to ACU, we are still cautious about using AI tools like Deepseek.
As a precaution, students are advised not to use or install Deepseek products on ACU devices or networks and to avoid uploading confidential documents to any Generative AI tools. ACU is assessing the risks and will provide updates.
Other tools that are considered risky include Manus, OpenManus, Tencent AI and Qwen AI (Alibaba).
The S.E.C.U.R.E. GenAI Use Framework for Staff is designed to guide university staff in making informed decisions about using GenAI software.
This framework provides staff with clear, practical guidance for the responsible use of GenAI tools within defined risk parameters without requiring explicit university approval for low-risk activities.
