  • All online articles need to have a doi or http://xxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • The doi is a digital object identifier assigned by the publisher to most journal articles
  • Look for the doi on the first page of the article
  • Use the home page of the database or the journal home page for the http://xxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • When there are 6 or more authors use the name of the first author followed by et al. in-text
  • Capitalise each main word of the Journal Title
  • The volume number is always in italics
  • Use Issue numbers only if each issue begins on page 1. If the pages are continuous (most common) it is not necessary to include the issue number.
  • For multiple authors check the author layout table for in-text and reference list format

  • If there is no pdf and no page numbers provided use paragraph numbers
  • If there is no doi use the http://xxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • If there are 8 or more authors on a paper enter the first 6 then … (3 dots) and the last author listed
  • For multiple authors check the author layout table for in-text and reference list format

  • There will not be any volume or issue details because it has not been published yet in a journal
  • Use the phrase Advance online publication after the title of the journal instead of the volume and issue details
  • The date will be the year that it was first published online
  • For multiple authors check the author layout table for in-text and reference list format
