BibleWorks is available only on the Brisbane campus.

Three Windows

The homescreen of Bibleworks is divided into three windows - Search, Browser, & Analysis.

You can create a forth window by expanding  the third window (Analysis) to view further information. Click on the small pink box on the right had side of the screen.

Search Window

The first section within the BibleWorks homescreen is the Search Window. This is used to perform basic searches on the Biblical text.

Within this window is the Command Line. This enables users to enter search terms, verses or phases.

The area below the Command Line displays the results of a search.

Browser Window

The middle section is the Browse Window. This area presents "...individual verses that are viewed in context or in multiple Bible versions.

Multiple Searches

Tabs are located across the top of the Command Line that enable users to perform various searches simultaneously.

An asterisk will appear next to the tab number to indicate that the tab is in use.

Analysis Window

The third section is the Analysis Window. This area displays words analysed in the Browser Window

When the user moves the cursor over words in the Browser Window, the information regarding this word will display in the Analysis Window.

There are many tools and features within Bibleworks, including:

  • Flashcard Feature
  • Maps Module>
  • Graphical Search Module
  • Resource Summary Tab - here users will find tools such as lexicons, dictionaries, etc.

An Overview

Search Tips

When using the Command Line, the user can make use of different characters as part of the search.

These include:

  • . (full stop) Finds all verses with both words entered (e.g .Jesus Paul);
  • / (forward slash) Finds all verses with either words entered (e.g /Jesus Paul);
  • ' (single quote) Finds all verses with the exact phrase (e.g ‘Jesus Our Lord);
  • * (asterisk) First wildcard symbol that “...represents zero or more characters, e.g. .heaven* = heaven, heavens & heavenly...”;
  • ? (question mark) Second wildcard symbol that “...always represents one character, e.g. .heaven? = heavens...”; &
  • [ ] (brackets) Range operators are “...used to group characters, e.g. .wom[ae]n = women & woman...”.
